September 11, 2026, TORONTO: The Zoryan Institute announces new Scholar’s Corner blog post, Lebanon-Israel: Are the Negotiations Dead or Just Stalled? written by Prof. Mireille Rebeiz, Associate Professor of Politics at the University of Otago.

This piece, focused on the ongoing conflict between Lebanon and Israel, provides an overview of the seven rounds of peace-talk negotiations that have taken place since April 2026. The author also provides her insights on this case, given today’s geo-political realities, ahead of the new round of peace negotiations that are scheduled to take place in Rome next week.

“Both Lebanon and Israel are facing international and domestic challenges. The next round of negotiations may be held mid-September in Rome. However, the on-going genocide in Gaza, the escalation of settlers’ violence in the West Bank, and Hezbollah’s categorial rejection of the Trilateral Framework cast a long shadow over these negotiations, which seem to be stillborn.”
