The Foreign Ministry of Armenia made the following announcement about Professor Vahakn Dadrian’s funeral arrangements:

“On August 2, 2019, renowned genocide expert and one of the pioneers of Comparative Genocide Studies, Professor Vahakn N. Dadrian passed away in the United States at the age of 93. Considering the relentless struggle of an internationally acclaimed scholar to raise awareness of truth, justice, and the Armenian Genocide, and his great scientific contribution to the study of genocide, it was decided to move his body to the Republic of Armenia.
 
Professor Dadrian’s memorial service will take place on August 30, 2019, 18:00-20:00 in the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, and the funeral will be held on August 31, 2019 at 13:00 in the Yerevan Pantheon.”

Professor Dadrian was an active and esteemed member of the Zoryan Institute’s Academic Board of Directors and served as its Director of Genocide Research since 1999. His many colleagues and friends at the Institute will miss his unshakable commitment, his many contributions, and his memorable personality greatly.

The Zoryan Institute will be represented by the President, K.M. Greg Sarkissian, Corporate Board Member, Ambassador Armen Yeganian and Director of Development, Lena Adalian-Sarkissian. Also in attendance will be a score of alumni from the Institute’s Genocide and Human Rights University Program, hosted at the University of Toronto. 

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Vahakn N. Dadrian Scholarship Fund for students attending the Institute’s annual Genocide and Human Rights University Program hosted annually at the University of Toronto.
