“The GHRUP profoundly shaped both my academic trajectory and my understanding of genocide studies as a field. The program offered a unique space to engage critically with scholars and practitioners from around the world, expanding my perspective beyond regional frameworks and deepening my commitment to interdisciplinary research. It encouraged me to approach my own work with greater critical awareness and ethical reflection. More than a training experience, the GHRUP was a transformative encounter that continues to inform my teaching, writing, and advocacy for memory preservation and human rights. Being part of this community has already opened many professional doors for me, but above all, it has given me friendships that I will carry for life.”

– Júlia Tordeur, GHRUP Class of 2025

The Genocide and Human Rights University Program, held annually at the University of Toronto, has brought together emerging scholars, practitioners, and professionals from around the world who are committed to the study and prevention of genocide, mass atrocities, and human rights violations.

Our alumni form a global community engaged in research, education, advocacy, policy, and public service. Drawing on the interdisciplinary training and scholarly networks developed during the program, graduates have gone on to pursue advanced academic study, contribute to leading institutions and organizations, and play active roles in addressing some of the most pressing human rights challenges of our time.

This page celebrates the achievements and ongoing work of our alumni and reflects the lasting impact of the Genocide and Human Rights University Program. We are proud of the contributions our graduates continue to make to scholarship, public discourse, and the advancement of human rights worldwide.
