Webinar Announcement: “The Conduct and Response of ‘Third States’ to Gaza”

09 Jun 2025

In light of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and as part of its continued commitment to raising critical awareness of contemporary issues related to genocide, mass atrocities, and human rights violations through education, the Zoryan Institute announces  a new session in its webinar series: “The Conduct and Response of ‘Third States’ to Gaza” featuring Jon Allen, former Canadian Ambassador to Israel and Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, taking place on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025 from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM EST on Zoom.

Jon Allen’s webinar will review the responses of third states to the events of October 7th, 2023 in Israel and the war that followed in Gaza. This will include the reaction of the Biden and Trump administrations, the Canadian and European governments and some of the major powers including India, China and Russia.

As international pressure on some of these third states increases to respond to the crisis, this session will provide timely insight into the motivations and consequences behind their conduct. A Q&A period will follow the presentation, offering attendees an opportunity to engage in a discussion about the evolving geopolitical dimensions of the Gaza crisis.

Jon Allen’s webinar builds on the Institute’s mission to raise public awareness relating to issues of universal human rights violations and genocide. It follows our webinar with Dr. William Schabas on South Africa v. Israel at the International Court of Justice which will examine the legal argument for genocide in the Gaza strip.
