TORONTO, December 20, 2023: The Zoryan Institute is pleased  to announce that registration for the  2024 Genocide and Human Rights University Program (GHRUP) opens on January 1, 2024! The program will be taking place at the University of Toronto from July 29- August 9, 2024.

The GHRUP is an intensive, two-week, graduate-level program that is taught by leading experts in their respective fields. The GHRUP aims to encourage a new generation of scholars to be engaged in the field of genocide and human rights studies, and since its inception in 2002, the program has welcomed over 500 graduate students from over 47 different countries around the world.

In addition to an introduction to human rights and genocide theory, the course will also examine select case studies and themes, including two brand new units: one dedicated to exploring the geo-political aspects of the crime of genocide and understanding the varied international responses to the crime. The other new unit will focus on transgenerational trauma, exploring the long lasting legacies of trauma from mass human rights violations and genocide. Stay tuned for more information on the 2024 program here.
