The “Common Body of Knowledge” is an ongoing project undertaken by The Zoryan Institute in collaboration with major universities and scholars. It is part of a process that addresses the need for information surrounding the history and past injustices committed towards the citizens of the Ottoman Empire, particularly the Armenian and Christian minorities.
The objective is to provide authoritative, mutually recognized Ottoman and other archival documentation on the history of this period. Teams of scholars, translators and editors are engaged in locating and collecting, researching, analyzing, editing, translating, publishing this material in Turkish, English and other languages. This is done to combat the Turkish official state narrative and restore accurate history and memory for the benefit of both societies. The Common Body of Knowledge, accessible to all, can serve as a catalyst for dialogue, leading to normalization of relations between adversary groups.
