About the Issue

This issue of Genocide Studies International explores a wide span of topics and themes, ranging from the recognition of the Assyrian Genocide in Sweden to forced marriages during the Cambodian Genocide. The papers in this issue analyze the evolution of genocide recognition, legal strategies for addressing ongoing genocides, and the impact of definitions on recognition. Genocide Studies International is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to raising knowledge and awareness on genocide, human rights, crimes against humanity, and related mass atrocities by providing a forum for the publication of original papers that take interdisciplinary and comparative approaches to critically analyze genocide and other forms of mass violence.

The journal is sponsored, owned, and operated by the Zoryan Institute and published twice a year by the University of Toronto Press.

How to Submit to Genocide Studies International

The journal is currently inviting submissions through two separate calls for manuscripts to Genocide Studies International. There is a general open call for submissions in which we are seeking manuscripts from across disciplines that contextualize these issues in relation to conflict, exploitation, colonialism, racism, bigotry, sexism, oppression, and globalization. The journal will also be releasing a special issue on the topic of Indigenous language erasure and revitalization later this year . We are seeking submissions from scholars across disciplines that contextualize Indigenous language erasure as it relates to human rights, conflict, exploitation, colonialism, racism, bigotry, sexism, oppression, and globalization. Manuscripts that explore gaps, challenges, and opportunities for action in protecting and revitalizing Indigenous languages are also welcomed. Learn more about this call for papers.
