Tuesday, March 25, 2025 | TORONTO – The Zoryan Institute is honored to participate for the third consecutive year in the Rosenbluth Family Charitable Foundation Genocide Awareness Week (GAW) at Arizona State University (ASU). Taking place from March 30 to April 4, 2025, GAW is a crucial platform for survivors, scholars, activists, artists, and policymakers to engage in meaningful discussions through lectures, performances, exhibits, and panel discussions.

Why Genocide Awareness Week Matters Now More Than Ever

The world is witnessing a collapse of international norms and laws established after the Holocaust and World War II, meant to prevent atrocities. With five active genocide cases currently before the International Court of Justice (ICJ)—an unprecedented situation—the urgency to confront impunity has never been greater. The Zoryan Institute has invited some of the world’s foremost legal experts to contribute to this year’s discussions, addressing accountability, justice, and the failures of the global community to prevent mass atrocities.

The Zoryan Institute, in partnership with the Armenian Genocide Museum Institute (AGMI), is proud to present its inaugural traveling exhibit at GAW. This exhibit examines the gendered dimensions of genocide and the critical role of women in post-genocide recovery and nation-building.

Keynote Address | Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji | The Right to Peace Project | April 1, 2025 | 5:00-7:00 PM

To close the day, Judge Eboe-Osuji will be delivering the keynote address for Genocide Awareness Week, where he will discuss the Right to Peace Project, of which he is the Co-Founder, President, CEO and Director. This initiative was created to encourage negotiation and adoption of a new treaty that establishes peace as a fundamental human right. Unlike the existing Declaration of Human Rights, this new treaty would be actionable (or enforceable), not just declaratory, filling a gap that currently exists in international law today. This treaty will allow victims of wars of aggression and other unlawful armed conflicts, to enforce their right to peace against the perpetrators of violence.
