March 5, 2025, TORONTO:  The Zoryan Institute would like to express its gratitude to the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) of Toronto for providing scholarships for deserving Armenian students to attend the 2025 Genocide and Human Rights University Program (GHRUP). These scholarships will assist students in covering the cost of tuition, travel, and accommodation during the program.

The Genocide and Human Rights University Program (GHRUP) offers students a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts and participate in intensive seminars and discussions over the span of two weeks (65 hours). The program equips students with the knowledge and skills to make a meaningful impact in their studies, communities, and beyond.

AGBU Toronto’s Executive Director, Salpi Der Ghazarian, had this to say about the organization’s contribution to the 2025 program:

“AGBU awarded two scholarships for Zoryan Institute’s Genocide and Human Rights University Program to empower the students to pursue their educational goals without financial barriers. By investing in their future, we hope to raise Genocide awareness and to inspire others to support the Institute’s scholarship program and contribute to the growth and success of the next generation of leaders.”

The support of donors like the AGBU has allowed the Institute to provide scholarships to students from around the world, including more than 40 students from the Republic of Armenia.
The Institute believes that everyone deserves to participate in opportunities such as these regardless of their financial circumstances. Given the current state of global affairs, now, more than ever, it is critical that genocide and human rights studies remain of utmost concern. Any assistance toward the Zoryan Institute’s scholarship program makes a significant difference in the lives of students and helps the Institute continue its work in the field of genocide education and human rights protection.
